PNF™ polymers are MST's fluoroalkoxy-substituted polyphosphazene-based product line. Thanks to its unique and unusual properties, PNF™ is highly valued in many applications across different industries.
PNF™ polymers are based on an inorganic backbone containing alternating phosphorus and nitrogen atoms joined by unsaturated bonds. The phosphorus-nitrogen backbone imparts special properties not found in traditional organic polymers, including:
- Broad operating temperature range (-70°C to 200°C).
- Extended fatigue life in dynamic applications.
- Exceptional reistance to a wide variety of solvents and fuels.
- Excellent vibration dampening characteristics.
- Efficient sound insulation.
- Great abrasion resistance.
- Inherently flame retardant.
- Gamma-radiation and thermal oxidative stability.
- Radar absorption.
- Superb weatherability.
- Good bonding to metals, plastics and fabrics.
- Liquid oxygen/nitrogen compatible.
- Fungus resistant.
- Ease of fabrication and compounding.
In addition, various side groups can be substituted to further enhance desired material properties.
